Although I got this for myself ?, this would certainly make a great small gift for the golfer in your life! The marker/“clip” s come in a very nice “gift suitable” box and are held in place in a custom fit high density foam insert for an appearance that far exceeds the price of these ball markers. The main reason I ordered these silicone magnetic “clips” and markers is that I have a number of hat brims that became damaged with corrosion stains when using the typical ball markers that have clips that are made of metal and are held onto the brim of the hat with a spring clip, and so can indent the brim of my hats. I figured the silicone covering would prevent this from happening should the clips become exposed to moisture (rain, sweat etc). The four golf ball markers each have very nice crisply painted/enameled attractive designs and each comes complete with its own magnetic silicone covered “clip”. You can mix and match the markers to the various colored “clips” to your preference. Again, they are very attractive and would make a very nice gift.I have “clip” in parentheses, as they are actually two silicone disks enclosing disk shaped magnets that are connected with a silicone strap. The magnets on each end keep the marker in place, while simultaneously holding the “clip” onto the brim of your hat by “pinching” the brim between the two magnets. When first getting used to taking the marker off of the clip, the clip would often slide or get displaced on the brim of my hat. Although I figured out how to manipulate the marker off of the clip without moving the clip, the clip will be even more unstable the thicker or more textured (presence of braiding or embroidery) the brim is. For this reason, these magnetic clips are not nearly as stable on the brim of my hats as the conventional metal spring held clips (although the metal ones have the problem of potential brim damage or corrosion as noted above). The way I get around the potential issue of moving or loosening and loss of these silicone “clips” is illustrated in the above photo. I place the clip very near the brim but on the hat band edge of the hat so that when my hat is in place, one side of the silicone flap is held between the hat and my head/hair keeping it from coming loose. If you wear your hats extremely tightly (or are bald and have no “cushioning” up there), or if you are constantly in the habit of taking your hat on and off during a round (I do not do this), this may not work for you particularly if the silicone flap feels uncomfortable under your hat band. That being said, this works very well for me (i.e., I have hair and do not generally take my hat on and off during a round). So far I have never had one of these silicone covered magnets come off even when removing my hat repeatedly to test it. In addition, I can easily reference the position of my marker (to remove and replace it) because it is always in the same position by my temple. This works very well and I am very pleased to no longer have to deal with corrosion stains etc. 5 stars!
