I have two other pair of golf shoes by major manufacturers - one of them is pretty affordable with Boa laces - easy on and easy off and relatively waterproof. The other is more sneaker-like and claims to be waterproof but, in reality, is more water-resistant than anything. Plus, with a mesh outer covering that brand shows dirt all the time and the mesh makes it difficult to get all of the dirt out. That said, they are super comfortable. So, I wanted a pair that was the best of both worlds - waterproof and comfy and easy to clean. Having owned Ecco dress shoes in the past (and knowing how durable they are), and knowing their reputation for being waterproof, I felt it was worth it to give these a shot and add a really well-made shoe to my lineup. These shoes are built like a tank. The first time wearing them they felt just a bit stiffer than my mesh shoes. But they quickly break in so that wasn't a problem. Mind you, they are not quite as comfortable as my sneaker-like shoes, but definitely more waterproof. They feature nice arch support without being overly "archy". I normally wear a 9 1/2 shoe and I ordered these in their 9-9.5 size. They fit just right. My foot is just a tad bit on the wide side and I am glad to say these aren't too tight through the middle. There's plenty of room in the toe box as well. While these don't feature spikes on the sole they do have a pretty aggressive pattern on the sole so I do not anticipate slippery slopes being any kind of problem. I ordered the Gravel/Black combo and I really do like the subtlety of the look of the shoes. If you are used to wearing a sneaker-type golf shoe these are just a bit heavier than the sneaker versions. I recently played an early round on a humid morning and wished that I had these shoes in my possession (hadn't ordered them yet) because the grass was filled with morning dew. With the Ecco's water is not an issue - they breathe well but keep my tootsies nice and dry.It is worth checking the price on Amazon for different color combinations in your correct size because I found the price of these shoes varies significantly based on the color that you choose. These gravel/black versions were priced 40% less than some of the other colors in the same shoe.
